Claus G. Budelmann

Claus G. Budelmann is one of the shareholders of Bergos AG and long-tenured member of the Board of Directors.

In 2018, together with a group of accomplished entrepreneurs, he acquired the majority shares of the then Berenberg Bank (Switzerland) AG and established first Bergos Berenberg AG, and then in 2021 the fully independent Swiss Private Bank Bergos AG. In 1988, he became a shareholder and co-owner of Berenberg Bank and led the company as personally liable partner until 2008. Also in 1988, he opened Berenberg in Switzerland. In 1981, after his return from Berenberg in London (1969-1981), Heinrich von Berenberg-Gossler made him a general representative of the bank. Claus-Günther Budelmann’s deep ties to our bank go back to 1965, when, after graduating from high school, he began an apprenticeship at the Berenberg Bank.

On 2 February 2021, the founder of our bank in Switzerland and long-time member of the Board of Directors was awarded the Cross of Merit on Ribbon for his great services to culture in Hamburg.
